Our Team Covenant = SPRINT
What is a Covenant?
A Covenant is binding agreement made in advance among players that brings us together as a team, keeps us together through good and bad times, and makes us realize that working together equals success. Where our actions are physically visible (this is what we all believe, so therefore, this is what we all will see) and the visions of actions that will never be compromised.
Why have a Team Covenant?
A covenant begins with a vision and a purpose. A vision of exactly what we want the culture to be in both words and actions and a purpose to achieve our goals. Teams of great significance began with the end product in mind.
Covenants need to be visible:
1. What do they look like when we win?
2. What do they look like when you score the winning goal?
3. What do they look like when we lose?
4. What do they look like when you make a mistake?
5. When do they look like when you get a tough call?
6. What do they look like when you practice?
7. When you are asked to play a different role?
8. When you are in the hallways? In class? In the locker room?
9. When you are away from the team?
S = SACRIFICE - SURRENDER OF SELF FOR THE SAKE OF TEAM.
P = PERSEVERANCE - STEADY PERSISTENCE IN A COURSE OF ACTION, A PURPOSE, A GOAL, ESPECIALLY IN SPITE OF DIFFICULTIES, OBSTACLES, OR DISCOURAGEMENT.
R = RELENTLESS - STEADY AND PERSISTENT; UNYIELDING: NOT ALLOWING ANYTHING TO KEEP US FROM ACHIEVING OUR GOALS.
I = INTENSITY - EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH ENERGY AND CONCENTRATION.
N = NOW - WITHOUT DELAY OR HESITATION, IMMEDIATELY UNDER THE PRESENT OR EXISTING CIRCUMSTANCES.
T =TENACIOUS - PERSISTENT IN MAINTAINING, ADHERING TO, OR SEEKING SOMETHING VALUED OR DESIRED.
